A White House official said that the US administration will announce, on Friday, that it has decided to lift travel restrictions for fully vaccinated foreigners, starting from November 8, at the land borders and air travel.
Travel restrictions have been imposed at the land borders since March 2020 to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
These restrictions were first imposed on air travelers from China in early 2020 and then extended to more than 30 other countries.
On Tuesday, the White House announced that it would lift restrictions on its land borders and crossings with Canada and Mexico for fully vaccinated foreign nationals in early November.
Visitors who are not immune will remain barred from entering the United States from Canada or Mexico at the land border.
On August 9, Canada began allowing fully vaccinated American visitors to enter its territory.
The White House announced on September 20 that the United States would lift restrictions on air travelers from 33 countries including China, India, Brazil and most of Europe in early November, without revealing the exact date at the time.
It also said it would apply vaccination requirements to foreign nationals traveling from all other countries From outside the US, air travelers will need to show evidence of vaccination before boarding the plane, and they will need to show evidence of a negative coronavirus test.
